Rabbi Evan Goodman is passionate about political advocacy. He brings deep experience in fundraising, education, and organizational leadership in the synagogue and university settings. As Jewish California's first-ever Director of Development and Communications, he looks forward helping Jewish California grow to meet the needs of our current political moment while building a foundation for sustained excellence in the years to come.

His three-decade career has been in the service of the Jewish community, first as a congregational rabbi in San Mateo and San Francisco, and more recently as Hillel Executive Director at UC Santa Barbara. Ordained at Hebrew Union College in 1993, Rabbi Goodman also holds a BA in Political Science from UC Berkeley, with advanced degrees of M.A.H.L. and D.D. (honoris causa) from HUC.

Rabbi Goodman was raised in the Bay Area, and now lives in Santa Barbara. An avid hiker and cyclist, he can often be found in the mountains and on the trails. He loves the outdoors, and is a big fan of the San Francisco Giants and Niners!
