Statement following anti-Israel protestors storming the California Democratic Party convention

SACRAMENTO, CA – JPAC released this statement following anti-Israel protestors storming the California Democratic Party convention:

"The storming of the California Democratic Party convention in Sacramento by anti-Israel protestors shattered the sense of safety many California Jewish Democrats felt at party functions.

"Protestors violently forced their way through security, chanted slogans calling for Israel’s destruction and justifying Hamas’s October 7th terrorist incursion, and shut down all evening functions. Hours earlier, over 100 Jewish Democrats and allies – including a dozen elected officials – came together to mourn the hostages taken by Hamas and rising antisemitism here at home.

"The California Jewish community deserves to feel welcome and safe when engaging in the political process. Peaceful protest is appropriate, but there is no place for this type of incitement in our democratic institutions. We hope a thorough investigation takes place, and that the California Democratic Party puts into place serious safeguards to ensure its Jewish members feel safe participating in the future."
